ENJOY ACROBATIC GYMNASTICS CLASSES WITH LJ DANCE

Acrobatic gymnastics (previously called sport acrobatics) is a competitive gymnastic discipline where partnerships of gymnasts work together and perform figures consisting of acrobatic moves, dance and tumbling, set to music.

Laura (head coach) trained and competed in acrobatic gymnastics for 13 years! Laura was British Champion on many occasions and has also competed in international competitions. Laura is also a level 3 acrobatic coach.

We have 3 other coaches who help to train our gymnasts. Lynn who has coached acrobatic gymnastics for 20 years and is a level 4 coach and judge. Sharon who is a level 2 coach and Kath who is a level 1.

Our minis class is for gymnasts from age 4-7 years. These are usually beginners or have done little gymnastics before. In this class gymnasts have so much fun and learn all the basic skills of gymnastics, we also introduce our basic acrobatic skills and balances.

Beginners is for the older first starters, usually from age 6 and above.

Our inters is for gymnasts who have had more experience in gymnastics before and would like to challenge themselves.

Our elite is for our more advance gymnasts who also compete in acrobatic competitions and tumbling.

Frequently asked question (FAQ)

Q
Do you offer taster sessions?
Yes, we allow gymnasts and dancers to pay weekly for the first few weeks to give them opportunity to try out the sessions before they decide to join.

If they would like to become a member then payments change to monthly.

Q
Do I need to book? Is there a waiting list?
Yes you will need to book before attending a class.

Waiting lists will depend on the class, some classes do but some don’t, so feel free to ask and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Q
Do you take beginners? What age do you take from?
Of course, we have a few beginner’s classes. If you let us know you child’s age we will let you know which class we feel would suit them best. We take gymnasts from age 4.

Q
What should I wear?
Leotard. New starters can wear shorts and t-shirts whilst they are in their trial period.

Q
Can I bring someone to watch?
Unfortunately, we do not allow parents to watch, this is mainly due to space (and current covid restrictions). We do post videos and photos on our Facebook page as much as we can so you can see what they have been up to.

We do also take part in carnivals and shows where parents and family can watch!

Q
What is the cost?
We offer pay weekly to new members at £5.00 per session for a few weeks before they decide to join.

All beginners classes are 1 hour long. Fees will then change to monthly payments. Fees do depend on which class you take part in.

For our gymnastics classes, there are two annual membership fees. £19 British gymnastics membership which parents must complete online and club membership which is £20. These payments must be completed 4 weeks after starting to give gymnasts time to settle in.

How fees work: Fees are split over 12 months, you will only pay for 45 weeks of the year, this is then split over 12 months so your payment is the same every month. This must come out on the 1st of each month.

We knock 7 weeks of for: 3 weeks for when we close over Christmas 2 week for when we close in the summer 1 week for when we close at Easter 1 week as a spare for if Laura needs to cancel for any other reason ie an emergency.

Q
Do you have parking?
Yes parking is available at all our venues, St James has limited parking but you can park on the road outside the venue to drop off and collect. The road is very quiet.
